Character Name(s): Preston Chevalier
Race/Species: Human
Gender: Male
Actual Character Age: 22
Home Territory(Place of Origin): Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Barbara County
Height:
Human: 5’11
Weight:
Human: 160
Physical Build: Physically fit, trim and lean
Physical Description:
His style of dress could be defined as Indy, incorporating lots of stylishly misplaced color (ex: a straight purple jacket with a small orange shirt with some random design on the front), but normally waers a USN Pea Coat and a hand knitted scarf of orange, black, red and yellow and any old jeans he could find in some thrift shop that he personally destroys, no sense spending fifty dollars for something he could do himself for less than twenty. He has strikingly hazel eyes and brown hair that curves up near the bottoms. Standing at about 5’ 11’ he isn’t notably short or tall, he’s basically at average height. As for his build, weighing in at 160 doesn’t exactly classify him as scrawny, yet somewhere around “physically fit”. He also wears many awareness bracelets for drives and movements ranging from “Beyond Tolerance” to pointless and completely ornamental appendages like a superman bracelet or rave candy.
Personal Information/History/Background:
Preston grew up with a constant musical influence; his dad was a rapper for a popular group known as Atmosphere, while his mom was a conceptual pianist. With his father barley ever around except for a check every month that helped take care of them both, he never really got to see him, but grew up knowing that his dad still loved him. His mom taught him the piano but what really intrigued him were the turntables in his father’s studio. Whenever his dad would come home he’d take his son into the smoky studio and let the boy fiddle around with the turntables. His mom never truly approved of the occasional deviations from the piano, but one day after his father left to go on another six month tour around the world she sat down with her son and had a heart to heart conversation.
“Preston? Wanna come play the piano with mommy?” she called to him and patted the seat next to her on the piano bench.
“Yeah mommy!” he called and scrambled up from his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles play set and sat next to his mom on the bench.
“Hunny” she started and began playing Heart and Soul with her son “Do you understand why daddy has to leave so often?”
“Uh hu!” he said eagerly, as if he had to get the answer right “He hasta go work and sing to people!” he said and smiled up to his mother.
“Ohhh, you’re so smart!” she replied softly and chuckled. “Well sweetie, I don’t want you to have to go do the same thing, unless you want to.”
“I dun wanna do that” he said and shook his head as he continued playing, and as his mother finished playing she looked down to him and sighed softly.
“Preston, I want you to do anything you want…” she said softly and put her hands in her lap. “Promise mommy that when you get older you’ll do whatever that makes you happy. Okay?” she said and hugged her child.
“I promise, mommy” he said and hugged his mother back. She placed her hands at his cheeks and softly kissed his forehead, smiling slightly as she went back to playing a song.

As time went on Preston went to school and kept what his mother told him in the back of his mind. He never really succeeded in his math and science classes. He had a passion for music, artistry and the written language. He graduated high school with a standard degree and little friends, everyone was afraid of someone who was different and didn’t like the mainstream music of sex, drugs, and violence that plagued the Top 40 of the time. They also made fun of him for having so much acne and for being as unkempt as he was. Around his second year of high school though, he started to put more effort into his appearance and found the perfect source of getting back in shape, training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the local Gracie Academy, as for his acne he bought a few years subscription to Proactive and now his skin is as smooth as a baby’s bottom. Soon enough he started to get noticed by his peers, the same ones who had inundated him in his younger years, and turned down their offers for drugs and sex, now that he was considered “good looking” the elitists of the school pestered him to join their posy. Holding onto his morals, he averted the mainstream society and focused on his work and studies. He grew to like music that was conveyed in a more alternative manner and had better morals than simply fucking bitches and lighting up punks with gats. He could say that his mother was very proud of him, from heaven…
She had died a couple years back from a cancer that the family had thought was passive. The checks from his father stopped coming when he had turned 18 and Preston was forced to get a job, he was accepted as a paid intern for publicly funded radio, KCRW and grew to become the DJ for their reputed show, Sounds Eclectic. He took all his mandatory freshman classes at the college that hosted the radio station then became noticed by a representative of Los Angeles Models and, ironically enough, did the occasional ad for companies such as American Eagle, Gap, Abercrombie and Fitch and the occasional CD cover. That was, until his 22nd birthday.
A small box arrived at his apartment a few days after his birthday. Later that night when he came home from work he opened it and smiled slightly with tears in his eyes. A small wooden cigar box with a picture and a check for ten thousand dollars was in it. He picked up the picture delicately and started to cry silently while looking over the picture, being sure not to cry on it. It was a photo of his mother and him hugging. He turned the picture over and in his mothers handwriting was a note saying. “Keep your promise, I love you.”
--
Later that week he turned in his key to his apartment, put on his coat and packed his bags. He had decided to start a new life in New York, maybe even start a degree in recording. All he had now was his duffel bag of clothes, an ATM card, a bank account with 11,650$ in his name and a will to do something different with his life.
Number and Description of Weaponry and Training:
He’s trained in the most effective form of combat known to man, buying a rowdy assailant a drink and talking with them. Other than that he trained in the Gracie families dojo for a few years, mainly as a workout but if absolutely necessary he could call upon his training to subdue an attacker if they have a true intent to hurt him.

Preferred Food: He isn’t necessarily picky, he doesn’t have favorites.

Intuition – 5.7
When coming to intuition, he definitely shines. He studied art and music so much, that he has grown an eye, ear and whole new level of comprehension for subtle nuances in speech, social situations, artistic communication and basically his gut feeling for things that will soon come to pass.
Willpower – 6.1
Having lived by his own means and being constantly pressured into doing drugs and having sex he can easily say no to peer pressure and most types of pressure for that matter. His will to do what will make him happy is so great that he’d go to a war zone to find just that.
